Overview
The Addiction Medicine Division at ECU Health is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care for individuals and families affected by substance use disorders. Our team brings expertise in prevention, treatment, education, and research to improve the health and wellbeing of eastern North Carolina.
We offer a full continuum of care through our outpatient services, inpatient consult service, and our specialized perinatal clinic. As part of the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, we are also committed to training the next generation of clinicians and advancing the science of addiction care.
Our Services
Outpatient Addiction Medicine Clinic
- Comprehensive evaluation and treatment for substance use disorders
- Medication for addiction treatment, which includes buprenorphine, naltrexone, and other evidence-based therapies for opioid, alcohol, and stimulant use disorders.
- Integrated mental health treatment
- Collaborative care with specialty providers like Psychiatry
Inpatient Addiction Medicine Consult Service
- Hospital-based consultations for patients with substance use disorders and co-occurring medical or psychiatric conditions
- Assistance with withdrawal management and initiation of treatment in the hospital setting
- Care coordination and linkage to outpatient treatment upon discharge
Perinatal Addiction Clinic – ECU IMPACT
