First Addiction Medicine Physician Specialist at Baptist Medical Center, Jacksonville, Florida

Addiction Medicine Consult Service Liaison

  • Developed and implemented a specialized Addiction Medicine service line with consultation liaison and inpatient management of hospitalized patients with substance use disorders.
  • Providing inpatient Addiction Medicine consultations and management for hospitalized patients in all five major hospitals in the Baptist Health System, including ongoing management and discharge/ disposition planning and recommendations.
  • Created and implemented protocols for management of fentanyl overdoses in the emergency department in conjunction with Project Saves Lives Program jointly with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department and Emergency Medical Services. This project ensures specialized, coordinated and seamless management and treatment of drug overdose and addiction, thereby reducing drug-related deaths.
  • Developed and implemented protocols for management of patients hospitalized with life-threatening complications, bacteremia, sepsis, endocarditis, various skin and soft tissue infections related to IV drug abuse.
  • Lead education provider to Mayo Clinic Jacksonville and University of Florida Jacksonville Medical Students, Residents, and Fellows participating in addiction medicine rotations
