Are all applications accepted through ERAS, or may I e-mail my application?
Applications are only accepted through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service)

What is your deadline for accepting application?
All applications should be received by December 31st.

How many letters of recommendation do you require?
Three letters of recommendation:

  • Three letters from a faculty member of medical school and/or hospital staff.
  • At least 1 of the 3 letters should be from a faculty member in the psychiatry department in your medical school or hospital.

Does your hospital sponsor H1/J1 visas for IMGs?
International medical graduates must be a US citizen, permanent resident or be eligible for a J-1 visa. (Our institution does not sponsor H1 visas.) Also required is a valid and renewable ECFMG certificate.

What are the requirements of USMLE scores?
Minimum board score requirement is 188 for Step1 and 203 for Step 2.

Do you have a policy regarding the maximum number of attempts before passing the USMLE 1 and 2?
Each of the following must be passed within three attempts:

  • USMLE Step 1
  • USMLE Step 2 Component 1 (clinical knowledge)
  • USMLE Step 2 Component 2 (clinical skills)
  • COMLEX Level 1
  • COMLEX Level 2 Component 1 (cognitive evaluation)
  • COMLEX Level 2 Component 2 (performance evaluation)

Does your program accept COMLEX scores in lieu of USMLE scores?
Yes.

What are requirements regarding years since graduation from medical school?
There is no pre-set number of years. Our program director will make that determination on a case by case basis – depending on what you have been doing since graduation.

What are your requirements regarding work experience for IMGs?
At least one year clinical experience in the United States (Clinical research and observerships do qualify)

How many PGY-1 positions do you have each year?
Eight

Does your hospital offer Pre-match positions?
We cannot offer our 8 positions that are in our yearly quota outside the match.

What percentage of your residents are international graduates?
Currently, approximately 40% of our residents are international graduates.

When will you start interviewing?
Interviewing will begin in November. You will be notified if you have been selected for an interview. The Department will be making its final decisions for the Match in early February.

Does your program offer an externship opportunity?
No, we do not offer externships.
