Diversity and Inclusion

Diversity Statement

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine aligns its mission with that of The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. We aim to increase the supply of psychiatric physicians serving the state, improve the mental health status of the region, and train physicians who will meet the health care needs of the state. We are committed to social justice and therefore, we embrace a climate of diversity and inclusion. We welcome differences in age, sex and gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, indigenous background, culture, national origin, language, religion, spiritual orientation, ability status, social class, education, veteran status, political persuasion, professional interests, and other cultural and professional dimensions. We are committed to recruiting and developing a diverse group of students and innovative leaders in psychiatry to meet the future needs of our patients.
